The history of Christian Hit Radio Inc (aka: CHRI), from the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Act to its officially launched on March 30th, 1997.

1994

• 
  This same team launches serious promotional campaigns regarding the arrival of Christian broadcasting in Ottawa.


• 
  CHRInitiative gathers and compiles significant research, centered around the March for Jesus gathering in the heart of the capital region, which supports the desire for Christian radio.


• 
  CHRI retains the services of a professional consulting engineer.

1995

• 
  The initiative incorporates and registers federally on January 19.


• 
  Christian Hit Radio Inc. submits its application on April 27.

1996

• 
  CHRI secures the last 80% of the startup funding in the last 5 days before the absolute deadline of January 31 that the CRTC set.


• 
  CHRI collects and catalogues 9,141 petition signatures and 1,129 letters of support.


• 
  CHRI appears before the CRTC for the public hearing regarding the application for the licence on April 19.


• 
  CHRI-FM obtains CRTC approval of it's application for the licence on July 8.


• 
  CHRI-FM finds studio and office space moving into it in October 1996.


• 
  Construction of the transmitter plant at Herbert Corners begins in the Fall.

1997

• 
  CHRI-FM hires staff and begins aggressive marketing.


• 
  Transmitter plant at Herbert Corners is completed in February.


• 
  CHRI-FM begins test broadcasts March 6 at 9:48AM as required by Industry Canada.


• 
  CHRI-FM launches at 1:00pm on Easter Sunday, March 30, 1997.
